A strong case exists for considering an all-party administration, given the extreme economic emergency facing the state.

The total talent in Oireachtas Éireann is scarcely unlimited. In normal circumstances, the country can afford all-out adversarialism. Yet the national need for unpalatable political decisions calls for an agreed approach to resist self-interested section pressures.

Civil war cleavages now have nothing more to offer. National unity is the imperative of the times.
