'Crazy' fees in children's court cases

The massive fees in childcare legal proceedings have been laid bare by new figures revealing that court advisers and lawyers are earning hundreds of thousands of euro from the state.

The massive fees in childcare legal proceedings have been laid bare by new figures revealing that a growing number of unregulated court advisers and lawyers are earning hundreds of thousands of euro from the state.

The top-earning barrister in childcare cases was paid €1.3 million by the HSE last year, while one court adviser was paid €454,000.

The figures have been obtained by *The Sunday Business Post* under Freedom of Information legislation.
