Sheppard’s sale this week has the apt title Décor Decoded.

While it offers fine furniture – an Irish 18th-century mahogany bookcase (€1,500-€2,500), a diva of a 19th-century breakfront bookcase (€1,400-€1,800), an Edwardian granddaughter clock (€800-€1,200), and early 20th-century twin Italian carved four poster single beds (€1,500-€2,500) – the main focus is on affordable decorative items of particular interest to the specialist collector.
