Cowen’s home county gives strong approval

Taoiseach Brian Cowen’s home county delivered a resounding Yes to the Lisbon Treaty, with three out of four people voting Yes.

Taoiseach Brian Cowen’s home county delivered a resounding Yes to the Lisbon Treaty, with three out of four people voting Yes.

Just over half of the electorate in the constituency of Laois/Offaly cast their votes last Friday, with a 57.5 per cent turnout.

In Cowen’s home town of Clara, Fianna Fáil’s early tallies showed 1,512 votes in support of the Treaty and 315 against.
