Brian Cowen has stayed overnight at the Steward’s House at Farmleigh on just five occasions since becoming Taoiseach in May.

Cowen stayed at the state-owned property in the Phoenix Park when official duties prevented his return to his own residence, and also used it for ‘‘a small number of informal meetings over recent weeks’’, according to Martin Mansergh, Minister of State at the Department of Finance.
