One way or another, Patrick Coveney needed to give shareholders an answer by last week. The Greencore chief executive had to deliver annual results for 2011 last Tuesday, and speculation surrounded the outcome of an unsolicited approach for the company from US private equity firm Clayton Dubilier & Rice.
