Coveney says Irish Water should be given chance to explain

Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney described the row over the €50 million spent by Irish Water on consultants' fees as "political opportunism".

Minister for Agriculture Simon Coveney described the row over the €50 million spent by Irish Water on consultants' fees as "political opportunism".

He told RTE Radio that people were "jumping on the bandwagon" without even knowing how the money was being spent.

"We need to understand how that money is being spent. We need to give Irish Water a chance to explain," he said.
