The High Court has refused to overrule a pre-nuptial agreement in a divorce case involving a French couple who lived in Ireland.

The High Court has refused to overrule a pre-nuptial agreement in a divorce case involving a French couple who lived in Ireland.

The court ruled that EU regulations which allow Irish people to divorce abroad are constitutional.

Pre-nuptial agreements are currently not recognised in Ireland. The decision could have far-reaching effects for Irish couples who choose to marry or divorce in another EU state.
