Funding cuts of more than €900,000 have been imposed on seven councils which failed to meet their collection targets for the €100 household charge.

Funding cuts of more than €900,000 have been imposed on seven councils which failed to meet their collection targets for the €100 household charge, with Donegal the worst hit.

The Minister for the Environment, Phil Hogan, had signalled that any council which failed to achieve collection rates of between 60 and 65 per cent would see their funding allocations cut.
