The estimated cost of fixing the country’s creaking water infrastructure has soared from €6 billion to €10 billion in just three months.

It is a further indicator that consumers will have to pay higher water charges in future to fund the enormous cost of replacing water pipes and upgrading water and sewage treatment plants.
