Cork tech firm raises €2.5m in funding

EMF Systems, a small technology firm bas ed in Cork, has raised about €2.5million in a funding round led by venture capital firm 4th Level Ventures.

The investment, which has been in the pipeline for several months, will fund a purpose built premises for EMF, according to Mike Robinson, the firm's managing director.

EMF makes machines used in the production of photonics devices such as light emitting diodes (LEDs).

Robinson said that EMF expected to employ 33 people within three years, rising to 50 by 2009.
