A Cork start-up plans to revolutionise the taxi industry with a new smartphone app that allows people to book the nearest available taxi and track its journey.

The service from Pickacab is operating on 60 taxis in Cork, but will be rolled out to the rest of the country in the next month. It is the brainchild of Russell Quigley and software developer Paul Higgins, who have plans to expand overseas.
