Coolmore does the business down under

Despite a slower Australian breeding market, Coolmore Stud is achieving record prices, writes Richard Curran.

Coolmore Stud, the bloodstock enterprise headed by John Magnier, has had another highly lucrative Australian stud season, with four of its stallions taking in around €54 million (Aus$67 million) in the Southern Hemisphere alone.

Last week, Coolmore's leading stallion, Fastnet Rock, saw its progeny achieve record prices at the Easter yearling sales. Fastnet Rock's top ten progeny in the sales reached prices totalling Aus$14 million. The stallion's service fee is Aus$220,000, and it covered 208...
