Only 3 per cent of Irish consumers intend spending more than last year on Christmas decorations, presents for friends and travel, according to research by Carat Pulse Ireland and iReach, *writes Siobhán Brett.*

The findings indicate a sustained reduction in overall consumer spending. Of those surveyed, 44 per cent said they planned to spend the same amount over the period as in recent years, while 53 per cent intended to spend more.
