Taoiseach Bertie Ahern said this weekend that he was ‘‘extremely disappointed’’ that talks between the Health Service Executive and the representatives of the country’s senior doctors have become deadlocked.

If only he was in a position to do anything, no doubt Ahern would act constructively upon this disappointment.

Mary Harney, the Minister for Health and former tanaiste, said she was ‘‘very disappointed’’ and promised - threatened, from the doctors’...
