Hundreds more hospital consultants with public contracts are facing a major rise in the cost of their clinical indemnity, with some now set to pay more than €100,000 a year.
The Medical Protection Society (MPS) provides cover for the majority of consultants who treat private patients. It wrote to doctors last week informing them that those who treat private patients in off-site hospitals would face immediate price hikes.
