Many hospital consultants will be able to continue their mix of public and private work under their proposed new contract.

Only some of the new contracts will be ‘public-only’, allowing many consultants to continue combining public and private work.

However, private work will only be allowed on public hospital campuses, including in the new private hospitals to be built on public land.
