The Irish Hospital Consultants Association (IHCA) has expressed concern at the speed with which the Medical Council wishes to introduce a voluntary audit of doctors.

It is concerned that it would be an overreaction to problems that arose in one person’s practice, said IHCA general secretary Finbarr Fitzpatrick.
