Consultant sues St Vincent's for defamation

St Vincent's Hospital in Dublin is being sued by a top consultant who claims he was defamed by the hospital after he revealed cancer patients had been overcharged by €1 million for drugs that should have been free.

Cancer patients were denied access to a potentially life-saving breast cancer drug at the hospital for nine months in 2002-2003 as a result of the dispute at the hospital.
