A consultancy company has been appointed to examine the salaries of 100 top civil servants, including judges, hospital consultants and chief executives of state bodies, writes Ian Kehoe.

The Hay Group, which has operations in 47 countries, including Ireland, will conduct an analysis of civil servants’ pay and compare it with similar positions in the private sector.
