Co-op Connacht Gold has completed a e1.3 million project to upgrade one of four livestock marts which it operates in Mayo, Sligo and Leitrim.

With an annual throughput in excess of 50,000 cattle, the mart in Balla, Co Mayo, is the biggest of its kind in Connacht and the north-west. It has undergone two years of renovations, getting a e300,000 effluent treatment plant along with a new animal intake facility and extended parking facilities worth...
