The exclusion of labour disputes from new arbitration legislation could have far reaching consequences for professional arbitrators around the country, according to a spokesperson for the Chartered Institute of Arbitrators (CIArb).

The Arbitration Bill 2008 passed all stages of the Dá il earlier this month and will replace existing legislation from 1954. Aimed at better facilitating the resolution of disputes by arbitration, it is scheduled to pass into law during the Dáil’s current spring session....
