Ireland has one of the lowest rates of heart transplant in Europe, new figures show, with just six heart transplants carried out here last year.

Ireland has one of the lowest rates of heart transplant in Europe, new figures show, with just six heart transplants carried out here last year.

Croatia, which has a smaller population than Ireland, carried out 38 heart transplants, while a total of 1,164 transplants were carried out in France, which has one of the highest heart transplant rates per million of population.
