The number of properties making more than €1 million at auction in Dublin is continuing to rise, as wealthy buyers compete fiercely for well-located period homes.

According to new research from estate agents Sherry FitzGerald, 71 houses in Dublin sold at auction for over €1million during the first three months of 2005. This was an increase from a record figure of 64 set last year and just 19 in 2003.
