The Competition Authority has launched an investigation into the proposed Euro 20 million takeover of Wexford Creamery by Glanbia.

The Irish competition watchdog has notified both parties in recent days that it is carrying out a full phase two investigation into the deal, which is a rare move. A final decision is due on June 6.
