More than 560 companies have asked the government to help subsidise the wages of over 9,000 employees, under a €250 million scheme to protect jobs.

More than 560 companies have asked the government to help subsidise the wages of over 9,000 employees, under a €250 million scheme to protect jobs.

Figures from the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment show that 561 companies applied to benefit from the Employment Subsidy Scheme before the deadline closed last month. They were seeking employment subsidies for a total of 9,130 jobs.
