Communicorp rejects ownership limit
One of the country's largest radio groups, Communicorp, has rejected a proposal to reduce the number of stations which can be owned by any one entity to 20 per cent of the market.
One of the country's largest radio groups, Communicorp, which is controlled by telecoms entrepreneur Denis O'Brien, has rejected a proposal to reduce the number of stations which can be owned by any one entity to 20 per cent of the market.
In a submission to the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (BAI), Communicorp said "no compelling public policy argument has been suggested for lowering the threshold", and said mergers would protect jobs and investments.
