Plans for a common corporate EU tax base are no longer on the agenda, according to the European Commission’s highest ranking civil servant.

Catherine Day, secretary general of the European Commission, said that plans for a common corporate tax base, which are strongly opposed by the Irish government, did not feature in the commission’s work programme for 2009.
