Commercial State Bodies: Cost reductions since 2010
Individual payroll costs have remained high at many of the commercial state companies.
Overall staff costs have been reduced by almost €30 million, down from €243.6 million in 2010 to €214 million in 2013. Overtime has been eliminated and there was a 20 per cent reduction in subsistence allowances for all grades. A voluntary severance programme remains open until 2016 to achieve a further reduction of 450 jobs. Wages have been frozen at Irish Rail since 2008, with no performance payments. However, pay scale increments have been paid.
