COMMENT: Xtravision winded by UPC movie offering

Xtravision's movie rental business faces even greater challenges with the launch of UPC's new film-on-demand service, writes Adrian Weckler.

It looks like Xtravision just got a serious gauntlet thrown down in front of it. Netflix Ireland, too, should be worried.

Today, UPC announced a movie-on-demand service that includes new release films at the same time as they’re available to Xtravision customers. It also announced a free on-demand television box-set service for its mid-tier and upper-tier customers.
