For central bankers, inflation is always and everywhere the enemy, although the level of enmity does tend to vary from jurisdiction to jurisdiction. In the US for example there has generally been a tolerance of a reasonable level of inflation, whereas in the Euro Zone, there is total paranoia about rising prices.
