Failures on the part of the Central Bank and Financial Regulator have been highlighted many times. Regulation has been criticised for being a too ‘light touch’ and, in relation to the Financial Regulator, it appears that it didn’t have enough staff. Throw in a culture of not questioning the banks enough, and you have a recipe for disaster....
