COMMENT: Intense mobile competition benefits us all

O2's revenue results today show that competition is biting the big players. And thank God for that, writes Adrian Weckler.

It says something about the Irish mobile market that O2 can take a 14 per cent hit in revenue (down to €551 million), a 25 per cent cut in operating cash flow (down to €120 million) and still make a margin of almost 30 per cent in the Irish market.
