Eircom's quarterly figures, published last week, underline that the phone company will need to hurry up and decide how it will get back into the mobile phone market.

With a further 9 per cent drop in voice traffic revenues, there is no avoiding the fact that Eircom's traditional business is continuing to switch to the duopolist mobile providers, Vodafone and MM02.
