COMMENT: Cullen's demise a body blow to troubled sector

Ian Kehoe met some of Ireland's most prominent liquidators last month. They all agreed the motor industry is in trouble. Bill Cullen's dealerships won't be the last to end up in trouble.

The decision by the bank to appoint receivers to Bill Cullen's remaining dealerships is a body blow to both the man and the industry, writes Ian Kehoe.

Last month, I lunched with the liquidators.

For a special feature for the print edition of this newspaper, I took four of the country's most prominent insolvency practitioners out to lunch, to discuss the state of the economy and the chances of a recovery.

The discussion was wide ranging, and the there was much disagreement between the four participants on a range of issue.
