The loss of our economic sovereignty and need to go to Europe with the begging bowl in recent years, has weakened our position, writes Richard Curran.

Successive Irish governments have put a political and diplomatic “ring of steel” around the protection of our 12.5 per cent Corporation Tax rate.

The game has always been to ensure it doesn't get undermined in continental Europe, in a way that the country would lose its right to charge such a relatively low rate. So far, so good, but that battle appears to be opening up on several fronts at once.
