Come west along the road

An investment model pioneered by a fund that supports indigenous firms in the west of Ireland could benefit other regions and sectors, writes Elaine O'Regan.

A unique regional funding initiative will invest up to €3 million in businesses in the west next year.

The funding from the Western Investment Fund (WIF), administered by the Western Development Commission (WDC), will go to SMEs and social enterprises in Clare, Donegal, Galway, Leitrim, Mayo, Roscommon and Sligo.
