This year’s odd weather conditions have made mincemeat of many a planting plan. By now, the two oversize tubs flanking my front door should be explosions of yellow, Narcissus Tete a Tete in one, Rip van Winkle in the other.

Both are early flowering miniature daffodils, but while Tete a Tete is just dandy, Rip van Winkle is still fast asleep.
