Co-operative chain sacks Silvercrest, says RTE

British supermarket chain The Co-operative has sacked Silvercrest as its supplier of frozen burgers after detecting 17.7 per cent horse meat in a test on a burger, RTE has reported.

British supermarket chain The Co-operative has sacked Silvercrest as its supplier of frozen burgers after detecting 17.7 per cent horse meat in a test on a burger, RTE has reported.

The news comes after Tesco dropped Silvercrest as a supplier of its frozen burgers, citing a breach of trust when horse DNA was found in products supplied by the firm.
