When the idea of cloud computing first entered the public consciousness, it came with a huge amount of hype, writes Danielle Ryan.
A recent survey by managed services provider Claranet has found that the motivations behind the migration to cloud have been shifting since those early days. Two or three years ago, the broad consensus was that cost was the main driver. Today however, improved data security and sovereignty, as well as overall efficiency and flexibility seem to be stronger pulls towards getting businesses into the cloud.
