Aida provided Verdi with one of his greatest triumphs, and Lyric Opera chief Vivian Coates hopes it will do the same for him when three performances under his stewardship take place at the Gaiety Theatre this week.

Coates's opera career in Dublin has taken place almost exclusively at the National Concert Hall, where Lyric has built a loyal fan base for quality concerts at affordable prices for more than a decade.
