Twenty-three-year-old Alexander Bernstein (above), who netted the first prize of €5,000, has already enjoyed considerable success, having made his symphonic debut 12 years ago. He has toured throughout the US and his winning performance reflected that experience through mature playing of works by Bach, Beethoven and Liszt.
