Clare Champion profits rise 20% despite increased competition

The Clare Champion, one of the few remaining family-owned regional newspapers, increased its profits by almost 20 per cent last year.

The Clare Champion, one of the few remaining family-owned regional newspapers, increased its profits by almost 20 per cent last year.

The newspaper, which is owned by the Ennis-based Galvin family, made a profit of €848,000 in 2005, up from €711,000 for the previous year, according to accounts just filed.
