Teenagers between the ages of 16 and 18 will be restricted from signing up for mobile-phone ringtones and other high-cost phone services this summer.

This follows concerns about the cost of mobile phone ringtones and other premium rate services, as well as the transparency of the terms and conditions of such services.

Regtel, which regulates premium rate phone services, such as competition lines and mobile phone ringtones, is updating its code of practice for children.
