City traders splurge on Christmas cheer

It's not even December yet and the Christmas shopping season has already begun in earnest.

According to some Dublin retailers, last Saturday was the biggest shopping day of the year so far and Sunday wasn't far behind.

Retailers are hoping for a December splurge to erase the memory of last year's sluggish Christmas season and to justify the millions of euro that have been spent on decorating shops for the holidays.
