The sudden departure of Vikram Pandit from the top job Citigroup was sparked by a clash with the board, according to reports.
The *Wall Street Journal* cited people familiar with the situation in a report that said the Citigroup chief executive clashed with the board over strategy and performance. The bank's share price was up 1.9 per cent a short time ago.
