Chiquita and Fyffes have submitted remedies to the EU Commission to deal with the likely impact their proposed merger will have on competition.

The stock-for-stock merger between Chiquita and Fyffes would create a global banana and fresh produce company valued at $1.07 billion.

Chiquita and Fyffes have submitted remedies to the EU Commission to deal with the likely impact their proposed merger will have on competition.

The EU Commission’s competition section said on its website that the remedies were submitted on 12th September but did not outline what the companies had offered. The Commission has also extended its deadline for reviewing the huge proposed merger until October 3rd.
