The Ireland China Association was established in November 2000, with the support of the then Chinese Ambassador to Ireland, Madam Zhang Xiaokang. Chris Horn of Iona Technologies was the founding chairman of the association and, with little or no trade occurring between the two countries at the time, wished to explore opportunities and start developing contacts.
