Consultant psychiatrist Siobhán Barry has a better understanding than most of the workings of the country’s health service. She sat on the board of the Eastern Regional Health Authority (ERHA) and the South Western Area Health Board between 2000 and 2004.

‘‘We can slate the Church, but we as a society have a lot to answer for,” Barry said. She has also criticised many senior figures in government for not taking appropriate action....
