Newstalk 106, the radio station owned by tycoon Denis O'Brien, may have some competition for its talk radio format.

An Irish-born DJ, based in Chicago, has submitted a late application to the Broadcasting Commission of Ireland to launch a talk radio station in the west/north-west region, covering topics from sport to business to gay and lesbian issues.
